  Windsor Lake and walking loop are a beautiful places to see wildlife and birds: Canadian and snow geese, eagles, osprey, blue heron, pelicans, cormorants… and sometimes even their offspring in various seasons at various stages. Small rabbits and squirrels are almost always visible. It’s really lovely. Unfortunately when in this area, we have heard gunfire on several occasions, at a seemingly very close range. I believe there is private property very close by which allows hunting to occur way to close to where the public pathway is. There’s a rugged border of sheet metal with many holes in it that seems to be acting as a fence. I’m not sure what function it’s intended to serve, but the holes in the metal look like they are from bullets or BB’s. I have been on the path when passed by kiddos from Windsor middle and high school who were jogging, clearly involved in a PE class outing. I’ve seen folks walking dogs, families with strollers, bikers, runners… It’s a beautiful path, but the sheet metal fence on the west half of the lake doesn’t make much sense. For this reason it saddens me to say that it no longer feels like a safe recreational area.

  We were visiting Windsor on Saturday and walked around Boardwalk Community Park after eating lunch at Tiho's Tequila Bar and Restaurant which is across the street. It wasn’t crowded and there are picnic areas. There lis a path along Windsor lake.

  Love this place especially in summer! We usually either go for a walk with our little one or go paddle boarding. It’s nice, peaceful and gathers lots of cheerful friendly people on the weekends. If you go paddle boarding don’t forget to get a permit online.
