  Yum! I'm from Wisconsin, so I regularly get cravings for fish fry (what we call fish & chips). I ran into this truck in Silverthorne, and I was not disappointed. The batter was paper thin, crisp, and fried to perfection, and the fish itself was divine! I am always so excited when they use real cod. I'm a traditionalist, so tarter sauce & malt vinegar for me, but their other sauces look fun.

  Today was not a good day for our favorite Food Truck On the Hook here in Mansfield Tx at the Lowes,, my wife's family is from England, so you know they LOVE fish and chips. Well today, I stopped around 5pm. Ordered 2 orders of the fish and chips with and extra piece in both, 10 crabe cakes- $75.00 worth of fish and chips ( double fries of course). The fries were great, the crab cakes , ok, but the star of the show: the fish, it was not appetizing in taste or presentation. The fish pieces were smaller, flat, no crisp to the bite, and had that old oil taste popping up. I should have done a visual inspection of the product before I left the window. One thing I did notice this time is that I only had to wait 2 or 3 minutes for my order to come out. I'm going to guess that the fish we had had been in a holding bin or something because it definitely was not to temperature, and the crispy batter that we usually see was flat, tough, over cooked and limp. I hope that this was just a fluke, giving our business to this company is an investment that we usually treasure the return on. Not today, we ate 3 of the 8 fish pieces, and the fries, the rest went to the trash. If you plan on visiting this company truck, I encourage you to check the product and voice your concerns at time of purchase. Please don't get me wrong, I use to tell folks that this is the closest to British fish and chips that we've had, after today, buyer beware.

  As someone who grew up on the East Coast, I’m pretty picky when it comes to seafood, and since moving to Colorado, I’ve been searching for really good, authentic fish and chips. I finally found them!
  
  On The Hook absolutely lives up to the hype . The wild, line-caught Alaskan cod was hand battered, perfectly crispy on the outside, flaky on the inside, and packed with flavor. Easily the best fish and chips I’ve had since leaving the East Coast!
  
  I’m also so excited that they opened their first-ever dine-in restaurant right here in Johnstown. No more chasing down the food truck or checking Facebook to see where they’ll be!
  
  The service was great, too. London was incredibly friendly and made our first visit even better.
  
  Definitely give them a try, and don’t skip the spicy pickle salt. It’s something I didn’t know I needed in my life! We will absolutely be back.
