I was just passing through on I-25 N exit 252 in Johnstown, Colorado… and wow, what a surprise! 😄

You know those places you randomly stop at with zero expectations, and then suddenly you wish you had all the time in the world? Yeah-this was one of them,
From the moment I walked in, the vibe hit me: warm, lively, and just the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to stay longer than planned. The staff? Absolutely awesome-friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful (the kind of people who make you feel like a regular even if it’s your first visit).
And the food… let’s just say it did NOT disappoint. Delicious, satisfying, and clearly made with care.

Honestly, the only downside? I was just passing through. If I had more time, I would’ve loved to sit down, relax, and fully enjoy everything this place has to offer

Definitely a spot I’d come back to-next time with friends or family, and no rush

Café Mexicali is outstanding. The food is truly exceptional-everything tastes fresh, homemade, and full of flavor. You can tell they care about quality, especially with their homemade tortillas, which are absolutely delicious. The restaurant is very clean, and the employees are friendly, attentive, and welcoming. If you’re looking for a genuine, authentic Mexican dining experience, I highly recommend eating here. One of my favorite spots.

Stopped in for a decent sized to go order and everyone was super friendly and helpful. The order was quick and accurate and the food was great. We always like the sweet pork nachos. The smothered burritos are a main stay, probably nothing we don't like here. Love the new location close to home. Welcome to the neighborhood.

Brand new location, same delicious food!
Enjoyed the seasoned beef nachos today and they hit the spot perfectly. Added some tomitilla rice. The store is brand new and spotless. The servers are friendly and helpful. They need you to come give them work to do.
