  First time trying it, portions are a pretty good size so bring your appetite. The staff helped me and the group of 6 others I was with in a very timely matter. I had the smothered burrito with the pork barbacoa. The meat was very tasty and juicy and their tomatillo sauce had a bunch of flavor. Will definitely try more locations now that I have had this experience. Oh and they have a zesty sour cream that was very unique also, Try it!

  This the best Mexicali because it's my favorite location 😁 everyone is always great and the best burrito makers work here for sure. I've only ever gotten the Chorizo breakfast burrito but all of the flavors are the bomb as verified by coworkers and friends.
  Life is better because of little yummt spots like this and you can tell they care about the food they make.

  My son and I come up here to go shopping at Scheels. We always stop at Cafe Mexicali for food because you get your money's worth. The food is wonderful and we are completely full when we leave. Deserts are delicious. Most of the time we leave with left overs.

  I came in from Wyoming for work and thought to myself let’s go get cafe Mex for dinner. The food was good like normal and the staff were super friendly, but man the heat. There was no AC!!! It was 97 degrees outside and at least 90 degrees in there. It was hard to enjoy my food in that heat. Want to come back but I don’t know if I can with the heat. Hopefully they fix it soon!

  My first time here, I asked the young man if I could still get a breakfast burrito but said it was over so I said, ok no problem get me a chicken burrito and I asked what does it come with because I really didn’t know. He briefly said then asked me again what I wanted which I repeated to him a chicken burrito and another young man whispered something in his ear and they both laughed. Not a pleasant experience so after I placed my order I walked to the cashier. More like a statue with no bedside manners of any kind of pleasantry greeting besides what did you order to charge me. Trying to make small talk I told her, oh my Family is from Mexicali and it’s my first time and thought I’d try it and check it out. All I heard was crickets. I was like oh wow everyone is having a bad day but whatever I just ignored it and paid. Then I tried the wet burrito or they call it smothered which the sauce tasted out of a can. not fresh, Not good! I asked for spicy and it tasted bland and mild spice and Mexicali chilies 🌶️ are HOT 🥵 I’m Mexican and can cook very well so this was a disappointment. Maybe I’ll try the OG one in Fort Collins perhaps they are better if not never again. I just moved to Colorado and thought this place would feel closer to home but no.
